[00:12] Surgeon: How's the right knee been since your last visit?

[00:15] Patient: Worse on stairs. It swells after long walks, and the gel helps a little.

[01:40] Surgeon: Range of motion is zero to 115. Small effusion, crepitus with flexion, and the ligaments are stable.

[02:05] Surgeon: Your X-ray shows narrowing on the inner side of the joint. That's osteoarthritis in the right knee. We can do a steroid injection today and start physical therapy.

[02:19] Patient: Let's do the injection. I can make therapy twice a week.

How the clinic uses Charted.

Torrin Orthopedics runs high-volume clinic days, with 7 surgeons and 5 physician assistants each seeing 35 or more patients. Exam findings were dictated between rooms or typed at the end of the day, and range-of-motion numbers were easy to mix up.

Surgeons now call out the exam as they go, the way they would for a scribe. Charted puts each finding in the right part of the exam section, gives the imaging read its own section and drafts the injection or therapy plan. When a detail is missing, such as an injection's medication and dose, the draft flags it.

During the pilot, median time to a signed clinic note was 3 minutes, and each clinician's average clinic day grew from 36 patients to 41 without longer hours. The group now uses Charted in all three of its offices.
